I am searching for Borcherding's originating from possibly the Hanover area of Germany. I believe they were in the woodcrafting/furniture making business.
The Elgin IL Borcherdings would possibly be related to my grandfather, James Franklin Hudson (Borcherding). My grandfather had many brothers and sisters (I have heard over the years ranges of 10-14). Some are reportedly in Montreal Canada, with the majority being in the farming area of IL. My great grandmother's name was Minnie Emma Borcherding (Hudson). My grandfather changed his name to Hudson - something to do with hiding out (possibly war related). I had an Uncle Harry (died as a teen from diabetes), which I am told was a family name as are the following: James, Ann, David, Jane, Flossie, Minnie, and Franklin. I will obtain more info on the IL family names - perhaps our branches are the same!
