Bordenave Family Genealogy Forum

There are many John Bordenaves. My father is John (Jean--original spelling, changed it when he came to the US) R. P. Bordenave. We'd receive calls at home for a John A. and the other John Bordenaves when we lived in San Jose (natives of that area--except Dad of course). Yes, one way or another any Bordenave is related to us since the name is from one specific area in Southern France in the Pyrenees. There is a little village of Bordenave there. Someday I will visit there--praying the army sends us to Europe so it will be a little easier to do so! Dad knows of the Gilroy Bordenaves past, but not as much as you have I am sure. I have moved things around in the house since I last did this search a year ago so I am searching for the box which holds all my information. Please post here any information you may have. Double check the spelling of the first names--is John spelled that way when he left France or did he do like my father and change it when he came here? Dad quickly tired correcting people when they called him "Jeene" when it was spelled Jean originally. Now I have that same task--my name is spelled Dianne but pronounced something similar sounding to "Jan" which people think I say when I pronounce my name the correct way. We verbally changed it to Deanne---I only correct those whom I know I will have more than casual contact with or in situations like this when tracking down family records, people may look for my name spelled differently. Would you please send me copies of the information you have on the John Bordenave who was in Gilroy? I will send my snail mail address to your regular email address. Thank you! I am sure with more of us searching, and as I get things connected (trying to set up a website just for this search--my dh is a webdesginer) pieces should fall into places a little easier.
Dianne
