I am a great great great grandson of John Nicholas Borgman who came over from Hanover in the 1800's. His son Francis (Frank) John Borgman left West Virginia and eventually settled in Arkansas after spending some time in Indiana where he married Frances Jane Beauchamp the daughter of Noah Beauchamp, Jr. Their son John Allen was the only one of the children to survive and have a family. He married Mary (Mollie) Owen Harris. Their son Herman Francis was born in 1898 in Craighead Co., Arkansas. His sister died of TB like his mother. Herman moved to St. Louis and married Martha Vivian Wecker, they had one child, my father George Allan Borgman who was born Jan. 22, 1928 in St. Louis. He has an E-Mail address but I don't. In 1997, I attended the Borgman family reunion in West Virginia.
There is a location in Arkansas that is still on the map called Herman. That was named after my grandfather by his grandfather Frank. The train stop in front of their store, lumber mill and post office was named Herman and Frank petitioned the Postal Service to change the name of the post office to Herman as well. This was eventually done. In Jonesboro, Ark. where John Borgman was once postmaster, a street was named Borgman after him. That street to my surprise is still there as well.
