Thank you for you reply. Since posting that message several years ago I have become close with several distant cousins that were offsprigs of Jurgen Bornholdt.
Jurgen came to the US Around 1866 with his wife (as you say Catherine) and 7 children. They buried a dauughter at sea as they came to the midwest (Iowa) with 6 sons, Henry (was one of those sons) who was my great-grandfather had a son "Walter' (my grandfather) who was the head cattle buyer at the "Chicago Stockyards" for 50 year , my father was his son who also joined him in that business in the 50's-60's.
So if you have connection in Chicago this is it. Please send that informatiom from Germany that you have as I would love to see it. I know that us "Bornholdt" are from "Holsteins", this was also part of Demark as well back in the day. "We really may be Danish". My relatives in Iowa, though, were very German when we visited them back in the 70's.
