I have been researching my ancestors and my last name has several variations. By far, the most common are Bossong and Bossung. My direct ancestors have spelled the name Bossong for hundreds of years (I've traced it back to the 1600s). However, my great-great-granduncle spelled his name Bossung, even though his birth certificate states Bossong.

Also, in my research, I've seen a lot of Bossongs in NY and Philadelphia area - none appear to be related to me. Maybe someone doing geneological research with family there may be able to assist you.

I hope some of this can help you in your research. Good luck!
