Joan Botkin (nee Lalonde)
December 20, 1933 ñ April 17, 2003
Predeceased by husband Edwin Dean Botkin.
Survived by: Children - Vicki (Steve) Wilson, Gary (Bev) Botkin, Nick Botkin and Jackie (Doug) Ward; Grandchildren - Christina (Paul) Hillan, Connie (Barry) Wilson, Jim (Anna) Ward; Great Grandchildren = Desiree and Nathan Hillan, Kyle, Brendan and Chelsea Wilson and Megan Ward; Sisters - Betty (Vic) Rossum, Molly Powell and Brothers - Jim (Marjorie) Lalonde and Ron (Elsie) Lalonde.
Joan was a stay-at-home Mom until the late 60s when she then began a career working as kitchen helper in a children with special needs home in Langley. She then worked at Langley Memorial Hospital as head cook. When Dean and Joan moved to Dawson Creek she enjoyed a brief spell of semi retirement and then started working at Peace Haven Seniors Home in Pouce Coupe as head cook and eventually dietician after upgrading her skills at the University of Ottawa. Eventually they moved to the 108 Mile Ranch for a few years enjoying their retirement (especially camping and fishing). In 1997 they made their home in Barriere. Joan has been involved in the senior group and enjoyed the activities and participating in the group to help with crafts and games. She also enjoyed going to church.
Please join us for a Memorial Service for Joan to be held at Victory Memorial Park, 2977 King George Hwy, Surrey, B.C. on Sunday, May 11th at 10 a.m.
