The story about Augustine Herman's date of birth and his parents is largely a fairy tale - unsupported by any evidence. The only part that is correct, as he himself confirmed in his Last Testament, is that he was born in Prague, the capital city of the Kingdom of Bohemia. The fact is that nobody knows who his parents were. As to his date of birth, the latest evidence suggests that he was born in 1621.
