this is starting to confuse me...according to our family history, (which I do not have a copy of, so I don't know all names or dates), Joseph Bourque left France for Canada (Cocagne, NB)sometime in the late 1700s...he is a descendant of Thomas Burke (son of John Burke) who left Ireland for the Brittany region of France (the town of Morlaix) because of British persecution of Catholics in Ireland...the Brittany region has a strong Irish immigrant history...after Canada, Joseph's descendants ended up in Massachusetts (my great grandfather, Edmond Bourque)...I did find a paper online at the University of Moncton in NB that supported the part of Joseph immigrating to Canada...he was to be a priest, but his plans changed...I can no longer find that document, but it did list the same names and dates as our family records, I did read up on the Acadians in Canada, but some matched up and some didn't, so if anyone has any info on Joseph Bourque who left Morlaix, France in the late 1700s for Cocagne (by way of St. Pierre-Miquelon) please let me know, thanks
