Thankyou for answering my message: it's interesting what you write about the trades of weavers, tailors etc as there were a lot of these in my mother's ancestry...one aunt who had taken an interest in these things told me, years ago, that the family were descended from the Hugenoets (not sure of correct spelling here) who came into England from France as refugees and were mainly weavers, badge and heraldic design makers. So that ties in with it all. I don't know a date of birth for my grandfather, but can find out I think, from one remaining aunt in law...I'm sure the place of birth was London: but will double check that too. As you can tell, I have only just begun this interesting search!
