I have very recently come upon this web page & links associated with it. As you can see I am Boutcher too. My Grandfather, Reuben Boutcher, was born in November 1855 at Mussel Hbr Arm(later Kingwell), Placentia Bay. My father Arthur Louis was born there, too, Sept 15th 1900.
I am anxious to find information about my ancestors prior to 1855. Anybody out there, especially from places like Arnolds Cove, Harbour Buffett, Spencers Cove, Clarenville, and others I would very much like to hear from you, one and all. I am retired and live in Surrey, BC. Thanks.
Rayfield(Ray) Boutcher.
P.S. I should also mention that my father told me about a conversation he had with the captain of the MV Clyde many years ago. That person said there were three brothers who came over from the Channel Islands; one settled in Placentia Bay area, one in Carbonear area and the other in the Twillingate area. My guess is that may have occured sometime in the 18th century. This brief snippet I hope will help someone to recall a possible connection. Thanks again.
