Boutcher name history

Hi.This is to Janie Raper Lasiter. I'm trying to find out some information as to the origins of the surname 'Boutcher'.
This is what I've found so far: The name has it's origins in France, which I discovered a few years ago on a trip there. Also, in London, there is a school called 'The Boutcher School' and that it was founded in the late 1890's by a Tanner who lived in south London. My Grandfather was born in the same area and brought up there. The name is very un-common in the UK spelt with the 'T, so you can imagine my surprise seeing a school with the same name. Any further information that is available about Boutcher's in the USA or any where else for that matter would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Keith.
