I have not been able to keep my research up recently, but hope to continue soon. Thought this might be interesting for all-In graveyard of church in Broadclyst, Devon-many headstones found with name of Boutcher. Tried matching up with data found-very difficult-so many Johns and Williams. My dad was a William Boutcher whose dad was John Henry Boutcher(claimed to be Buffalo Bill as he was the image of him and did many shows here in Bournemouth and other places). Before this I found he married Clara Dobbs in London and had 3 children, then married my grandmother Ada Buckland and had 3 children, my dad, Mary and Grace. My great grandfather John Boutcher married Julia Emma(Hutchinson)Howe and had I think 3 children my grandfather, Edward (who lived in Earlsfield, London) and a daughter who I believe moved to Australia. Julia was the daughter of the actor Henry Hutchinson Howe(Howe added when he became an actor as he was from a Quaker family).I was told that the Boutchers first arrived in Devon from France when William the Conqueror came over and land was given to the surviving men to start a new life here. Whether this is absolutely tree I do not know, but did read somewhere Boutcher came from Bouchier(french) so maybe this is right. My sister, brother and I often wondered where the family of grandad and Clara were, so maybe we have found some of them. It is a minefield isn't it?
