I was searching for Bouwkamp genealogy, and found your postings. You mention Herman. I believe that (from what I've gathered) he may have been my Great Grandfather. From stories told he came from The Netherlands with his brothers, and did settle in Michigan. If this is the Herman you speak of, he and his brothers lived in the Muskegon / Holland Michigan area. My Grandfather Albert would be a son. He lived his entire life in Muskegon, Michigan. My father is Larry who resides in Buchanan, Michigan now, lived in Muskegon until 1978. From what I was told by my father is that at a time after their arrival, there was a family squabble and some of Herman's brothers changed the spelling of their last name. Some spelled it Boucamp, some spelled it other ways. Please feel free to email me if you might have information to share or if I may be able to help some. By the way, my father said that the Bouwkamp's weren't exactly a close social type of family.
