The oral history strongly suggests Rebecca Box Jones did have Indian heritage and the Box/Jones group is still researching the issue. Often oral history is “right on the money” and other times the oral history has been “enhanced or watered down,” as we all know. We are searching for documentation to confirm or alter the oral history. If anyone is of the belief that Rebecca Box Jones is of Choctaw or Cherokee descent AND has documentation to support this, we would love to communicate with you. We would appreciate any insight you may have.
