There is an alternative view of the Box family of Laurens Co., SC being developed by a group of Box/Jones researchers based on the recent discovery of Robert and Phillis Box of New Castle Co., Delaware in 1728 and the land grant records available on the South Carolina Archives on-line. It is probable their sons were:
Joseph Box, born about 1730, who married Margaret.
Robert Box, born about 1734, who married Mary Williams.
Henry Box, born about 1738 (marriage not yet determined).
John Box, born about 1742, who married Rachel.
Edward Box, born about 1750, who married Lydia.
It is probable that Edward Box, born 1754, was the son of Robert and Mary Williams Box; and Michael Box, born about 1751, was the son of Joseph and Margaret Box. The Samuel Box (born 1745) relationship to this line of Boxes is not yet determined.
Documentation that definitely establishes family relationship in this generation has not been found other than Abraham Box's oath that Henry Box was brother of Abraham's father, John Box. All the ages except those of Edward Box, born 1754, and Samuel Box, born 1745, are crude estimates. If there is anyone who reads this message AND has documentation to support more accurate birth years for these Boxes, please write back! We would love to see the documentation supporting these dates and will be open to accepting those dates after the documentation has been evaluated. Thank you!
