Bobbie Jones McLane in her book "The Family of John Jones 1755-1811 questions the addition of William to the name of Andrew Jones, husband of Rebecca Box Jones. The documentation found in land records in SC; census records of 1800, 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840; the deposition of his father's estate; and the Bible records of the Jones family all name him as simply Andrew Jones. She also calls attention to the records which indicate the presence of an older Andrew Jones in Livingston Co., KY that may account for some of the confusion and the oral history of his association with Daniel Boone.
The military warrant for land in Pike Co. MS that Rebecca Jones sold to Edwin McFarland in 1854 was issued in the name of Private John Jones. There is a strange mix of coincidence and conflict.
