Thank you for the information. I know that some of her children and grandchildren applied for recognition by the Choctaw tribe, I have copies of some their testimony. To the best of my knowledge, none of them were every successful. The family stories that I have heard (for what they are worth) was that she was connected to the Cherokee tribe. I am not sure where the Choctaw connection comes from, unless it was through the Jones family. I know that my g-grandmother Letitia Paralee Carpenter whose mother was Melinda Adeline Jones, daughter of Robert Jones an Melinda Ewing. Robert was the son of William Andrew and Rebecca Box Jones. I knew Letitia Paralee well and have pictures of her and she shows strong indian facial features, as did her father Stephen Harry Carpenter (I have pictures of him from young to old). If Rebecca was half indian, then Letitia would only have been 1/8, which isn't a lot. I intend to research the Carpenter, Ewing and Jones lines to find if there is an Indian connection.
