my great grandfather John William Stapleton served as a stoker on board HMS Dido (Eclipse class Cruiser) during the Boxer Rebellion. I too have his China 1900 Medal in my possession. Internet info seems hard to come by but the PRO has written files if you can access them on service records etc. I am just beginning my search and have very little info about my g-grandfather so please e-mail if you have any further info. I also have his other 3 war medals (victory,1914-15 star and 1914-18 service)but don't know if he stayed on HMS Dido.
