My grandfather Sgt James Robson RMLI service no 4119 served aboard HMS Glory which was at China Station 1901-4 - do any records survive of this regiment there/their military actions etc.
He was awarded a medal on 11/10/1903 but can't find him on medal cards - lots of James Robsons but not mine. I see Neil Boulton has medal rolls for China War Medal 1900 - what would a 1904 award be for?
Does anyone know if the ship's crew plus marines were recorded on 1901 census?

What ship was Phil Ely's ggf on - was it perhaps 'Glory' too?
Could my gf be in the photo he mentions? He met and married my grandmother in Deal and he died there (of TB) in 1907 leaving her with 2 children, Mabel and my dad, William Robson, who later became a Royal himself. I'd like to find out about all the campaigns the RMLI were in - gf was also on Monarch 1889-1890, Volage 1890-1892, Galatea 1895-1897 in between spells at Portsmouth Division before Glory as above.

All info gratefully received

Thanks

Joy
