I am in possession of a letter that my MIL got in a box at a garage sale. The envelope is dated 9-21 with no year. The letter inside is dated Nov 9, 1918. The envelope is "from" Aline Gerlach, 217 E Ayers, Edmond, OK; (to) Ms Ruth Boydston, Depew, OK.
The letter is (to) Mr (or Mrs) W.M.J. Boydston and written (from) Depew, O or D St, Depew,, Nov 9,1918.
I can't make much sense of the letter except to say it is a letter from someone who loves someone else, could be a mother, a jilted lover, a husband or wife, not sure. The back of page 4 does say " Mr W.M.J. Boydston, Camp Fremont, Base Hospital, Ward U although there is no signature at all.
The last paragrah says "some loves pumpkins, some loves squash, i loves you I do by guash. love ?????yooxx oodles of luff to you". (sounds like a love letter to me)
There is a 5th page which is of different paper but old which says "Camp Pike Arkansaw, Casual Co-90-162, Depot-Brigade. AND there is a newpaper article from some newpaper which is a picture of a little girl and says "First Birthday - Melissa Ann Boydston, daugher of Jim and Maggie Boydston, celeberated her first birthday on Jun 13 etc,, etc,, etc.\
This letter does not belong to me. I hope to hear from someone who might think it belongs to them. On the other hand, I have left out some details because I am never going to again sell stuff to you ebay people who want to sell stuff for top dollar - I am hoping that a real family member can obtain this letter if it means anything to them.
I am not wanting to sale this, don't misunderstand. I just don't want to give it away to someone who might "sell it". I hoping that one of you knows these folks and I might be able to get rid of it to a rightful owner.
