1835 Josiah was a Colonel in the militia in Tyler Co, VA
1847 He was a representative in the Virginia State Legislature for Tyler, CO VA
1835-1854 Large family (10 children) living in Middlebourne (Tyler Co), 10 miles from Ohio
1855 Moved family 15 miles north to Martinsville, VA, directly on the Ohio River
1863 He owned slaves, and according to stories, didn't want to give them up
1865 During Civil war,moved family down the Ohio River and settled in Mentor, KY(CSA)
Some of his family moved back to WV, but most stayed in Campbell Co, KY area.
Wife's middle name was Shelby, related to Shelby's of Maryland. Josiah was also married to Susannah M. Pindall. Buried in Grandview Cem, Mentor, Campbell Co, KY.
