I know that we are traced back to Alsace-Lorraine in France. We are considerd French speaking Germans (credit Gaylene Turner).
Gaylene told me that one of the orrigional spellings of Bozarth was "Bossart" and that the name spelling got changed because people were illiterate and just spelled it however they thought it sounded. There are about a million different ways to spell Bozarth... there is the Bozarth, Bozorth, Bozier, Bosier, Boshur... sometimes it is even found spelled Bogarth and Boyarth because the "z" looked like a "g" or a "y". Even Bosworth, and you might even be able to find it spelled Bozure. I am giving credit of most of this post to VirJean Potter Bozarth because I got it from a letter that she wrote to Joe D. Bozarth in 1985!

VirJean, if you would like to get ahold of me, you can email me at or my mother at

Also I know that in "my" line there is German because my grand mother's name is Horst which is a German name and i was told that either my 2great or my 3great grandparents were Germans born in Russia (I have no clue where this was gotten from... I just remember my mom telling me this a long time ago.)

If you would like any information that I might have, please feel free to email me!
