According to "The History of the Irish Wilderness County", by Ronald Wihebrink; Richard "Devil Dick" BOZE was killed after the war. A special militia was formed to hunt down "guerilla gangs" and the one in Oregon County, MO was made up of mostly ex-Confederate soldiers.
County records appear to support this finding, although historians in the area are still researching.
