At Krien, Kreis Anklam, Vorpommern in 1822, Johann Simon Braasch (1794-1863) married Maria Dorothea Wolatz (1794-1886) daughter of Johann Wolatz (1754-1807) and Ilse Dorothea Neun (1757-1837). Johann Simon was the son of Michael Caspar Braasch (b.1768 in Wegezin) and Ilsabe Lenora Zander (1768, Spantekow-1844, Krien). Wegezin is a vilage in Kreis Anklam near the village of Krien and was the home of at least four generations of Braasches. This Wolatz family was located in Krien from about 1750 and prior to that was located in Voelschow, Kreis Demmin. Johann and Maria Braasch, together with five of their children, emigrated to Cook County, Illinois (Chicago area). Do you have Kreis Anklam ancestry who emigrated to the Chicago, Illinois area?
