Weekly Standard Newspaper, Raleigh, NC--Mar 16, 1859
PARRICIDE.--A reliable correspondent, writing us from Onslow county, under date of the 28th ult., says that on Thursday, the 24th Feb., 1859, Stephen P. Bradham, of that county, killed his father, Daniel Bradham, by striking him over the head with a fence rail. On Saturday, the 26th, the inquest was held over the body by Coroner Elijah Murrill. The verdict of the jury was in accordance with the facts above stated.
The Bradhams, father and son, were both citizens and residents of Onslow county, and lived close together, but had been enemies for years, during which time they seldom met without quarrels that the son S. P. Bradham, seized a fence rail and killed the old man with one blow over the head.
The affair occurred in Richland's District.
The murderer has not yet been arrested or found notwithstanding the vigilant exertions of Sheriff Humphrey, and it is feared that he may be able to elude the officers of the law and make his escape.--Wilmington Journal.
