Hi Connie,
The only information I have on General John Brahan is found in a book about the history of Brahan Lodge, A Masonic Lodge in La Vernia, Texas named in honor of Robert Weekly Brahan, son of General John Brahan.
The book says that Robert Weekly Brahan was the son of General John Brahan, who served with distinction as a Brigadier-General on the staff of Andrew Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans.

The book also says, that Robert Weekly Brahan numbered among his kin some distinguished personalities in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi, among them his brother-in-law, Governor Patton of Alabama to whom he was planning a visit at the time of his death.

I have the complete obituary on Robert Weekly Brahan if you are interested.
