Janet Elaine Miller was born on January 18. 1931, in Hope Summit, Missouri, under the name of Mary Louise Branch. Her mother passed away from complications of childbirth. She had three older siblings, Jack, Naomi, and Leroy. The father abandoned the family and the children were dispersed to the Missouri State Children's Bureau and State Home for Children. Ralph and Zelda Taylor first fostered the 14-month old Mary and then adopted her when she was 3 and a half years old. They renamed her Janet Elaine Taylor. After several months, they also took in and adopted her sister, Naomi. I was told that the older brother ran away and was adopted by a family in Florida. The other brother was placed with an adoptive family.

Early on, Janet had poor respiratory health and doctors advised her parents to relocate to a warmer climate, so thay moved to National City, California, when Janet was about 4 years old. Janet attended Sweetwater High School. During Janet's high school years, her adoptive mother (Zelda) was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Janet took care of her mother as best she could during this time. When her mother passed in December 1948, Janet (then 17) was so overwrought that she was unable to complete her senior year of high school.

She went to work and through her childhood friend, Stanley Miller, met Gerald (Jerry) Hugh Fox. Jerry and Janet were married on February 17, 1950. They had four children, Joyce Lynn, Deborah Ann (Annie or Debbie Ann), Margaret Denise (Peggy), and David Bruce. Jerry and Janet were married 26 years, but the stress of life caused them to divorce in 1976.

In 1980, Janet was contacted by her childhood friend, Stanley Miller. That frindship blossomed into love and they were married in 1980. They bought a house in Spring Valley. They were married for 10 years when Stanley was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He passed away shortly after his diagnosis. Janet's son, David, was involved in an accident and needed to recuperate so she cared for him during his convalescence. He continued to live with her until her health took a turn for the worst in May 2010 and Janet was placed in a skilled nursing facility under Hospice care. Janet went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. She was 80 years old.
