My ggg-grandfather, Caleb Justice (1806/1810 VA-abt. 1848 Lawrence Co., OH), married Elizabeth Branham (1815-1884)in 1831 in Floyd Co. KY. They moved to Lawrence Co., OH, near Hecla Furnace, and had 6 children: Andrew Jackson, Benjamin Franklin, Philip Strother/Strand/Straud (have found all 3 names for his middle name), Susan Jane, John George, and James Knox Polk.
Elizabeth Branham was the daughter of Benjamin Branham (1780 Bedford Co., VA- abt. 1864 Lawrence Co., OH) and Susanna Hackworth (b. abt. 1785 Bedford Co., VA). They were married in Floyd Co., KY on Oct. 27, 1809. Elizabeth had 5 siblings: Charlotte "Lottie" (b. 1810 KY), William H. (b. abt. 1812 KY), John (b. abt. 1814 KY), Joseph (b. Nov. 1818 VA), and Benjamin Franklin (b. 1820 KY).
Benjamin Branham was the son of David Branham and Frances Baskett.
That is how the Justice's and Branham's are connected and I hope this info. is of some benifit to you. If you ever happen to come across anything in regards to Caleb's death, please let me know. If you ever come across anything on Philip Strother Justice (my gg-grandfather), please let me know as well. I know that he volunteered for the war in 1864 as a substitute for his drafted brother, Benjamin. Their brother, Andrew, had been drafted the year before and when Philip joined, so did another brother, John. They both served in the 91st OVI and after the war, Philip married a war widow, Elizabeth Hunt Neal.
