Hi I have had a request from folk in New York trying to trace Braniff ancestors. As I am new to this genealogy field I am providing the following in the hope that it is of interest to someone. I would be happy to assist further.
I am the son of John Francis Braniff and Teresa Braniff,(nee Carberry).
John Francis Braniff was the son of Edward (my grandfather) and Margaret Braniff (nee Connolly).
They had five sons Edward, James, Patrick, Edward, Bernard and John (my dad) and two daughters Lily (Lillian) later married to a Frank Cusack and Sadie (Sarah) later who married a Jack (John) Branagh.
As far as I recall my great grandfather was called James and he was married to a lady called Doran.
The only family member of that older generation still alive is Frances Campbell (nee Braniff) and I am attempting to trace her address in Belfast.
There are still a lot of the younger generation in Northern Ireland as I am one son of of a family of seven boys and three daughters and we all have children and some have grandchildren. .
I also remember a visit from an American uncle (Arthur) many years ago (mid fifties) as I recall.I believe that he lived in New York.
