May... it's your dear sister. I hauled out our greatgrandfather's Bible and found enough information that a search can be started. His name was Willie Little Brantley. He married Sally Harris on December 21, 1913 in Tarboro, N.C. in a ceremony that was performed by Rev W.A. Gurganus(sp?). Our great-aunt is/was Thelma Kathelene Brantley, born on March 5, 1918. Our grandfather was Julius Marvin Brantley, born on August 30, 1925. There is also another birth listed but I have no idea who it may be... Bobby Gene Boswell, DOB August 1, 1935. I believe he may be Thelma's son.
Also in this Bible is Willie's credentials from the ordaining council. It shows that he became an ordained minister (named as W.L. Brantley) on March 27, 1936 at Hoges Chapel Free Will Baptist Church... this Ordaining Council was part of the Free Will Baptist Denomination of the Cape Fear Conference.
Lucy, I believe was Willie's mother but I could be mistaken.
That's all I have of him and Dad doesn't know much that he'll talk about. At that time, ministers traveled constantly so it's going to be a little difficult to trace.
If anyone else has any information, please help my sister and myself. We really have no idea where the link is to the Brantley family and are anxious to know.
Thanks, Toi Costner
