A Fatal Encounter.
(Special to The News.)
BLOSSOM PRAIRIE, December 8.-It was a Smith & Wesson, and the verdict of the jury of inquest is that it was in the hands of E.W. Fagan when the fatal shot was fired that killed R. H. Brantley at 2 o’clock this afternoon, both citizens of this place. The testimony of witnesses is that Brantley had Fagan down beating him, when Fagan shot. Brantley, then got up, walked into the store of H.L. Byrne, remarked that he was killed and expired in a few moments. Fagan surrendered, and is now in the hands of the officers of the law.
