Hello Anne,

Jacob Brantner was the son of David A. Brantner and the grandson of George and Sarah Nace Brantner, both of Marshall County, W.Va. He married Drusilla Chaddock in Ohio County, W.Va. before 1844. She was previously married to James Harvey. Drusilla was born in Pennsylvania 15 October 1818, the daughter of my great-great-great grandfather Charles Chaddock, a shoemaker, who was born in Maryland about 1773. Jacob and Drusilla must have moved to Iowa sometime after 1850 since they show up in the 1850 Marshall County census. The 1850 census lists three children: Sarah M.(1844) Rebecca N.(1846) and George(1848). I have the same death date as you but did not have her third husband.

According to information I found in the History of the Upper Ohio Valley, Volume I, page 667, Jacob died during the Civil War on the Osage River.

I hope this is of help to you. I have some more information on the siblings of Drusilla and Jacob if you are interested. I'd appreciate any inforamation that you might have regarding Jacob and Drusilla and their families. You can contact me directly at Wchad@aol.com. Look forward to hearing from you. Bill Chaddock.
