Jacob Burton Braswell born 5 Sep 1830, South Carolina
died 18 March 1895, Willow Springs, Howell County, Missouri, buried Ozark Cemetery, Texas County, Missouri.
M1. married abt 1855/1856, possibly Georgia?, Nancy M.________ (some say Braswell), born 30 June 1833, Tennessee, died 5 Oct 1875, Willow Springs, Howell County, Missouri.
children:
1. Cicero C. Braswell, born 18 March 1857, Georgia, died 8 Sept 1877, Willow Springs, Howell County, Missouri
2. Mary Jane Braswell, born 1858, , Walker County, Alabama
M2. married 23 January 1876 to Ann Herndon, Texas County, Missouri (Martha Minerva Herndon, born 1842 Forsyth County, Georgia (or Winston County, Alabama, daughter of Joel Herndon & Sarah Denning.
1. dau, Sarah Elzena Braswell born 9 July 1877, Willow Springs, Howell County, Missouri.
2. son, Jacob Marion Braswell born 18 May 1880, Willow Springs, Howell County, Missouri
1880 U.S. Census, Bert Braswell, Willow Springs Twp., Howell County, Missouri.
Marriage Records, Texas County, Missouri 23 January 1876.
1870 U.S. Census, Piney Twp., Texas County, Missouri
1860 U.S. Census, Jacob B. Boswell, Western Division, Walker County, Alabama
of note on the 1860 U.S. Census is the household of Thos. & Valina Brazeal, with children Nancy Ann & William T. They are living one household away from Jacob & Nancy.
I hope this can be useful, we were working on the family of James Benton Braswell who married Sarah Ann Hughes in Texas County, Missouri. Some believed he also married Ann Herndon (groom listed as J.B. Braswell on card file), 23 Janaury 1876, Texas County, Missouri, but we believe this is Martha Minerva Herndon mentioned above.
We researched some on Jacob as a possible brother to our ancestor and also to prove or disprove Ann Herndon (Martha Minerva Herndon0 as his second wife.
Note: The 43rd Alabama Infantry Regiment Company H, did have a Jacob B. Braswell in it and some of its members were from Walker County, Alabama. We recommend that you search for his service record and pension as he may have filed application or his widow did probably from Howell County, Missouri.
Also, you may want to lookup original marriage record for marriage 1: FHL US/CAN Film #931629 to see who the witnesses are or parents if listed. Possibly page 277 or #277.
Sincerely, James Clemans
