Hi there I read the post from Dick Brautigam. From the little research I have carried out within my family it appears that during the 1st World War when there was considerable ant-German feeling in London, one part of the Brautigam family changed their name to Brantigan ( much the same as the Battenberg family became Mountbatten).
I have also posted a reply to Debbie Paul re the Bakers.
