I have a full list of the children of Charles and Rebecca Brayton. They are William, Albert, Peter, Myron, Hannah, and Hiram.

I am his great great grandson, the line being Charles, Peter, Henry, Clayton and myself, Robert. I have a "family bible" with births and deaths of his children.

I am desparately trying to find out the father of Charles. In the 1880 US census Charles states that his father was born in Vermont and he was born in Canada. The dates and ages that show up for Comfort in the 1825 Canadian census seem to indicate that he could have been the son of Comfort, who lived in Hemmingford and where Charles and Rebecca were from. Do you have any more info on that?

There are some interesting letters in the US archives from Charles and Rebecca as he was trying to get a Civil War pension because of the loss of his youngest son in the civil war. There seems to have been some question about the formality of his and Rebecca's marriage. Know anything of this?

In the letters he mentions that he had to cut off his own foot one Christmas due to an infection from an ax wound and therefore could not earn any money. Intersting person. Please let me know what else you know of Charles ancestors. If we can connect Charles to comfort, I think we can connect Comfort to Joseph and that gets us all the way back to Frances.
