A biography/family history of Charles R. Brazier, Helena, MT, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 1059 & 1960. Charles was born, 15 Jul 1879, to George and Susan (Godsell) Brazier, born 1835, London, England, and 1837, Birmingham, England, resepectively. George settled in Salt Lake City about 1856, and married Susan in Salt Lake City. He was a merchant in Park City, UT; retired to SLC in 1900 and died there in Feb 1911. Susan died in SLC in 1893. They had 10 children.
Charles R. Brazier was educated in Salt Lake City schools, and graduated from business college in SLC. He learned the wholesale/retail business of Siegel Clothing Company and 1899 - 1902 became advertising manager. In 1902, he moved to Evanston, WY, to become manager of men's clothing dept., Blythe and Fargo Company, and a year later became advertising manager for J.P. Gardner clothing stores. After three years, he opened the first advertising agency in Salt Lake City. He sold his interests and in 1910 he came to Helena, MT, where he established the C.R. Brazier Advertising Company and for four years was advertising manager for the Helena Independent.
In 1902, Salt Lake City, Charles married Miss Violet Collinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.S. Collinson. Her father was a businessman and later a rancher in Idaho. Brazier children: Paul, b. 16 Oct 1903; Lucile, b. 10 Sep 1905.
