Hello. I am contacting you through your genealogy website. Trying to track the Breedings is almost hopelessly confusing, but I am researching an apparently rather obscure branch of the Breeding family of Roane County, Tennessee. I am looking for information about William J. Breeding, born ca. 1830 in Tennessee. He was the son of Evan Breeding, born in Lee County Virginia in 1804, and Abigail Hinds. You have them on your Rootsweb World Connect database. William J.'s wife was Hannah or Thanna Jane Breeding, b. ca. 1832. Their children were Steven Evan Breeding, b. 1855, and Mary Ann Breeding, b. 1859. When William J. died ca. 1965, his wife Hannah married John Harrison Bacon, 13 years her junior. She apparently subsequently died because John H. Bacon married Lucinda Breeding, b. ca. 1846, in 1874. Lucinda was listed in the Bacon household on the 1870 census as a cook. I and a Bacon family researcher in Texas are trying to determine the exact relationship between Lucinda Breeding and William J. and/or Hannah Jane Breeding. I think Lucinda may be the daughter of Stephen Breeding, b. 1810 in Tennessee, and Mary. Stephen and Evan apparently were both sons of Byron Breeding, which would make William J. and Lucinda first cousins - I think. I am also interested in Mary Ann Breeding, their daughter. I believe she married a Ben D. Malone in Dallas County in 1880. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Steven Evan Breeding was my great-grandfather. His daughter, Alta Leone Breeding Denney, was my grandmother. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Julia --

I think I found Mary Ann Breeding. By tracking Ben D. Malone's family through census records and obits, I found a granddaughter who told me her grandparents, Ben and Alice, were married in Cooke County, Texas. By pure chance, some cemetery listings have been posted on the Cooke County GenWeb site, and I found Mollie A. Breeding, wife of Ben D. Malone, August 28, 1859-May 17, 1885. I am fairly certain that this is the daughter of William J. and Hannah Jane Breeding of Roane County. I am now trying to find some more information about William J. and Hannah Jane Breeding and Evan Breeding and his family, both ancestors and descendents. I'd be glad to share my information about Steven Evan Breeding's descendents with other Breeding researchers. My grandmother's brothers included William, Evan Edward, and Baty Bryant. Thanks for your time and assistance.
