Hi Doreen - I would love to get into this discussion of the Breens of Wexford.I'm trying to trace the origins of my great-grandfather, James Breen.
I know he was a Dublin Metropolitan Policeman from 1864 until he retired 20 or 30 years later.I got his police record from the Garda Archives in the Pheonix Park in Dublin.
He married a Mary Brennan (I'm assuming the married took place in Dublin) and they had a number of children, James, Arthur, Michael and Annie.I believe there was another daughter but her name escapes me at the moment.I would have to go into another computer to verify.
I cant find any information obout his origins other than the fact that he lived in the Clonroche area between New Ross and Ennicorthy.
I am wondering if some of the names you mention could be related.Needless to say I would be very interested in comparing and swopping information.
