You are right that John Brees is most probably not descended from Rev Sidney Brees. there are 2 problems there- one is that there wasn't a Rev Sidney Brees (there was a Seedney Brees -female - in Shrewsbury, England who was married to a man who was a glover and had no son named John. Weeden Nichols in Kansas researched this situation a couple of years ago and found that there is no connection. We still don't know who the ancestors are of John- just who isn't.
