Just a note, I was looking for BREESE in OH, and have found that the name was changed from the original BREECE. However, the emigrant in my family William Breece went by the name BREES (no ending e). However his grandaughter and my gr grandmother was Lydia BREESE.

So I would definitely investigate all three spellings.
