Hi Pat:
My husband's great grandmother's maiden name was Briese. She married Frederick Ruskey and they migrated to Canada from Prussia in 1865 and settled first in Quebec and then Muskoka, Ontario. In the 1879 Atlas & Guidebook of Muskoka, there are shown several Briese families living near the Ruskey family in Monck Twp. Muskoka and I am assuming that they are related although I have not really looked for a connection as yet. Some of the names were; Martin Briese, Ferdinand Briese, Miss W. Briese, Charles Briese and August Briese. There was also a Rudolph Goltz. These farms were all adjacent to one another and I have a very strong feeling that they were all related. I must admit that I have not done a lot of research on this line as yet as I am keeping busy working on family lines leading up to that one. Alice
