STEPHEN D. BREES died at his home in the northwest part of Knoxville, July 9th, aged 78 years, ll months and 29 days. The deceased had been ill with cancer of the throat since last summer.

STEPHEN DOUGLAS BREES was born July l0, l845, in Lee County, Iowa, and was the son of MR. and MRS. JESSE BREES. His parents moved to Marion when the deceased was a small boy, settling northeast of Knoxville on a farm. He was united in marriage to ELLEN MILLER about fifty-four years ago. To this union nine children were born, six of whom are living. They are: N.L. BREES; J.D. BREES; I.J. BREES; AMOS BREES; all of Knoxville and vicinity; MRS. SARAH SMITH, of Leon, and MRS. LYDIA YOUST, Lucas County. Besides the children, the deceased is survived by his widow, two brothers, JOHN BREES and JARRETT BREES, both of Knoxville.

MR. BREES was converted and joined the Pentecostal Church since his recent illness about five weeks ago. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, at l p.m., from the residence. The interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery.
