I realize you made this post almost 4 years ago, but I really hope you're still monitoring the forum, because I really got excited once I read your post.
I, too, am busy tracing my Breese roots. Unfortunately, my grandfather was estranged from the rest of his family after his mother died (while my mother was a little girl), and refused to talk about them. So between what little my mother knows and what I've been able to find via census records, I think I've managed to trace my lineage back to the same Robert B. Breese you mention in your post. Although I must admit that there has been some educated guesswork involved, particularly once I get past my great-grandfather.
My mother is Joanne Marie Breese (b. 31 Aug 1932 in Chicago). She is still living and is now the oldest of this branch of the family.
Her parents were Robert Alfred Breese (b. 27 Dec 1897 in Medaryville, IN; d. Mar 1980 in Melrose Park, IL) and Freda Amelia Fandrey (b. 18 Apr 1895 in Monee, IL; d. Dec 1966 in Wonder Lake, IL). They had one other daughter, Evelyn Margaret Breese Luner (1921-2001), as well as a daughter from Freda's first marriage, Mildred Juanita Wilauer(?) Haney (1917-2004). Not sure if Robert ever adopted Mildred formally.
Robert's parents were Francis A. "Frank" Breese (b. Oct 1869 in Chicago) and Julia Nolan (b. 1864 in WI). Both died sometime after 1930, probably in Gary, IN. He had 4 siblings: Harry Breese (adopted; 1889-?), Julia Breese (1895-?), William Stephen Breese (1900-?) and Elvaretta Breese (1903-?).
Frank's parents were Alfred K. Breese (b. Jan 1846 in IL; d. 16 May 1923 in Chicago) and Margaret J. "Jenny" (maiden name unknown; b. Nov 1845 in IL; d. 21 Oct 1933 in Chicago). Frank had 3 siblings: Victor G. Breese (1867-?), Laura E. Breese Beam (1871-?) and either Harry Benjamin Harrison Breese or Harry J. Breese (1889-?).
Alfred's parents were Robert B. Breese (b. Oct 1818 in England; d.?) and Charlotte (maiden name unknown; b. 1817 in England, d.?). Alfred had 4 siblings: Sophie Breese (1841-?), Martha Breese Dickerman (1842-?), Robert B. Breese (1844-?) and Victor Breese (1849-?).
I hadn't yet made the virtual leap over the pond, but your info will certainly get me pointed in the right direction. I would love to find out what you've discovered since 2004, as well as get copies of whatever documentation you have. I hope you see this and I beg you to contact me. Thanks in advance.
