Hello Joyce and Gerald
My Great Great Great Grandfather, Michael Brennan was born in County Kerry in 1762 - d. March 1847 (I believe in the Iveragh Peninsula, in the area west of Kenmare). He was married twice, first to a McCarthy, then to my GGGGandmother, Sarah Carson who was supposed to be from Ulster. They had three children that I know of: Michael who "died young", John Carson Brennan b. 1810 d. 19 Oct 1894 married Belinda Needham (John & Belinda are my GGGandparents) and Martin C Brennan b. Tralee 1815 d. 7 April 1904 in Bristol, England. He married Mary Anne Griffiths in 1846 in Cheshire, England. My GGrandfather, John Needham Brennan, was born on board the "Nimrod" in the Irish Sea in 1848. He married Maria Elizabeth Maybury in 1875 in Kenmare. The had eleven children and lived at "The Shrubberys" in the middle of Kenmare. My Grandfather, William Maybury Brennan was born in 1877 and migrated to Australia in the first decade of the last century.
My father's cousin, who lives in Wexford Ireland, married a Huggard. The Huggard family, I believe, was an English plantation family that flourished in Co. Kerry after the seventeenth century and has now spread around the world. They intermarried with Stephens and other Kerry families including Mansfields and Mayburys, families that are entwined with my Brennan family. Other families that we are associated with are Roland, Carson and Needham.
Although,I don't think there is a direct link between our "Michael Brennans", it may indicate we have a common ancestor. My brick wall is Michael and his wife Sarah, so any light you can shine on these individuals and the Brennans of Co. Kerry would be much appreciated.
Regards
Charles Brennan
