As I have it, the Jeremiah Bresee married to a Malinda listed by Pat Gilbert was married to Malinda Olmstead. I have that family with five children so far, but there may have been more. None of the children I have were named Ruth.
I have eight Jeremiah Bresees in file, but none with a wife named Malinda Hawkins. I suppose it's possible (since Jeremiah Bresee died 26 Dec 1826) that his widow Malinda remarried to a Hawkins and that there was a Bresee daughter named Ruth. That might account for the names on the death certificate. Then again, this might be an unknown Jeremiah Bresee (at least to me).
You're on the right track. Perhaps someone will jump in here with more relevant information.
