Thanks Pat for coming to save the day. It looks like I owe you an apology.

I remember our discussions about Malinda (marred to Jeremiah) of long ago. I had agreed with another researcher that this Malinda was an Olmstead.

It now looks like Malinda's surname may have been Hawkins. That would go a long way toward a son in the family being named Hawkins. I'll make a correction to my file and add a note about her surname possibly being Hawkins.

I do have a Malinda Olmsted in file married to Timothy Y Bresee, and have traced Malinda (Hawkins??) through the 1850 (Illinois) and 1860 (Missouri) census using the surname Bresee or equivalent.
