Hi Jean, Thanks for responding to my post. According to a search done in 1995 by the Westport (Co. Mayo) Historical Society, Alexander's parents are named William and Ann (maiden name: Brown). They were married on 22 Dec 1813. William died on 15 Feb 1836.

I don't have any more information on them other than a comment made by the WHS researcher that William and Ann's family were weavers who came from the North of Ireland. It seems possible/likely the family originally was from Scotland.

Here is a listing of Alexander's siblings with an indication of their last residence that I know of:

John Brewster (Clark Co. MO)
Andrew Brewster (Westport, Co. Mayo)
Charles Brewster (Monroe Co. IA)
Elizabeth Brewster Hammond (Orange Co. NY)
Robert Brewster (Westport, Co. Mayo, d. 1899)
William Brewster (Westport, Co. Mayo)
George Brewster (Clark Co. MO?)
Peggy Brewster Kirkpatrick (Westport, Co. Mayo)

This came from a file I found in Clark Co. MO from a search for relatives prompted by John Brewster's in testate death. The county liquidated his assets and distributed the proceeds from their own familty history search, done in 1899.

Where did your McEvilly family live? Are they from County Mayo?
Thanks much,
Pat
