Hi Pat Thanks for replying. I reckon Alexander could possibly be Patrick's cousin as Patrick was born in 1810 (son of Robert and Catherine Cochlan). I haven't done any research in Ireland so all I know is that my Brewsters came to Scotland sometime around 1840 as Robert, my great great grandfather b 1938 is listed on the electoral roll as being born in Co. Mayo whereas the next child Maria was born in Scotland in 1841.

I understand but haven't proved it that the Brewsters originally came from Dundee but moved to Ireland to work with flax when jute failed in Dundee and certainly Brewster is a common name in Dundee

Jean
