Hi Pat,
I've just picked up on your conversation with Jean. Your William is the brother of Jean and my ancestor Robert ( who married Catherine Cochlen. )

I was very interested to read that you had seen some research by WHS which stated that Robert and William's family were weavers from the North of Ireland.

Was this research you had commissioned or did it come from somewhere else?

I was planning to visit Mayo last summer but unfortunately the trip ws cancelled. I will go within the next couple of years though.

A lot of Scotch- Irish weavers moved down from Donegal in the 1750's to help set up a new cloth industry around Westport. It seems likely that Donegal may have been their previous stopping point.

Be great to hear from you,

Kind regards,
