Twenty-Sixth National Brigance Reunion Scheduled at Waldron, AR, June 18 & 19, 2005This reunion will be hosted by the descendants of John Henry Brigance (1840, TN-1920, AR).
Saturday (18th): The group will begin gathering at 1:30 p.m. at the Cypress Barn Lodge.The Lodge is located on Hwy. 71 (Waldron By-pass and Junction of Hwy 71 and 80).Lodging reservation can be made at the Cypress Barn Lodge by calling 1-479-637-3451.
Group meetings and meals have NOT been scheduled for Saturday afternoon and evening this year.Some will be going on the cemetery tours and to Turkey Track.Those not attending these events are free to visit and share information at the Lodge or plan other activities.Yes there is a Walmart and park close by.
Those going to Turkey Track can grab sandwiches at the Subway near the Lodge or a variety of food is available at Turkey Track.
Those not attending Turkey Track can have a Mexican dinner at the Lodge, sandwiches at Subway, or other foods at other places in the area.You are encourage to invite a ?Long-lost or New-found Cousin? to join you.
We have several planning to be in attendance for the first time this year.Let?s extend our hospitality and help them to get acquainted.
Cemetery Tours: As in the past, Willie Brigance will lead the tour to the Taylor Cemetery where John H. & Mary Ann (Tipton) (Musgrove) Brigance and several of their descendants are buried. This tour will depart from the Cypress Barn Lodge at 2:00 p.m.
On the way to and from the cemetery this tour will include stops at several landmarks in the Tate community where the Brigances settled and have lived since the Civil War.
Dennis and Linda will lead the tour to the Duncan Cemetery.The tour will depart from the Cypress Barn Lodge at 4:00 p.m.The cemetery is located in Waldron and is were several descendants of John Henry and Mary Ann BRIGANCE and Redmond Roger BRIGANCE, are buried.
Turkey Track: Some of the group will be attending the popular ?Turkey Track? (bluegrass music festival) south of Waldron, Saturday afternoon and evening.You are encouraged to bring and take a lawn chair.
If you have never attended Turkey Track and need more information or directions, let some of the group know.Several have enjoyed going as a group in the past.
Sunday, 19th: Sunday breakfast is at your leisure and on your own. Why not invite a ?Long-Lost or New-found Cousin? or two to join you?
The Diner across the highway from the Cypress Barn Lodge as well as the Lodge, and other choices are open for breakfast.
Waldron High School Cafeteria:Sunday activities will be at the Waldron High School Cafeteria.The high school is located approximately three blocks east of the Cypress Barn Lodge on Hwy. 80.The campus is a smoke-free environment.Your cooperation is appreciated.
Genealogy Session:A one-hour session on several updates and research topics has been planned again this year.Those planning to attend the genealogy session should be at the Waldron High School Cafeteria no later than 9:30 Sunday morning.
Those not attending the genealogy sessions should begin gathering at the Cafeteria at 10:35 a.m.
If you have questions or topics you would like to have included on the agenda for future genealogy sessions, please let Al or Dennis Brigance know.
Lunch:Potluck lunch is scheduled at the Waldron High School Cafeteria for 12:30 p.m.Some bring their favorite dishes or deserts.Others contribute money for Louella to buy food which she and her chef?s prepare for the group.
